Na de dood van émile Levassor ging René Panhard alleen verder. Panhard et Levassor was één van de pioniers op het gebied van auto's in Frankrijk. Vele auto's gebruik(t)en het Système Panhard, met motor voorin, aandrijving achterin. Het was een succesvol bedrijf in de beginjaren. In 1911 begint men met de inbouw van schuifmotoren. Het merk was tot de Tweede Wereldoorlog succesvol.
Na de oorlog kwam het uit met de Dyna, een hele ommekeer voor het bedrijf, de auto had voorwielaandrijving. Sterker nog, het hele voorgedeelte (voor de voorruit) kon worden losgehaald om aan te sleutelen. Aanvankelijk gemaakt uit aluminium en met eentweecylinder boxermotor had het alles om een klassieke verkoper te worden. Enkel de prijs was aan de hoge kant en dat deed het bedrijf min of meer de das om.
In 1955 nam Citroën een aandeel in het merk, om het volledig te absorberen in 1967. In dit overzicht is het niet opgenomen, maar men produceert nog immer voertuigen, enkel zijn deze voor het leger. In 2005 werd het bedrijf aan Auverland verkocht.
Panhard in Uruguay
In Uruguay kreeg Panhard nog een raar zusje in de vorm van de MP, een terreinwagen. Daarnaast werden ook de gewone Panhard's geassembleerd in Uruguay.

Just a suggerstion, as I believe that, especially since you present years of company operation, it is somewhat misleading that such a French "legend" like Panhard appears to be "shared" between France and Uruguay (a similar comment about NSU). I understand that such a practice has been alsmost accepted for, say, Ford, but technically even that could be challenged (since Ford is a U.S. company, with, at best, some degree of "independence" for its (say) German and Australian branches).
My opinion is that there should be a separate entity for Panhard Uruguay with its corresponding years of operation and similarly for other companies.
Just a thought to share, since your site seems to be the most professional Auto catalog that exists today.

Interesting thought! I have more or less extended what is common practice.
Looking at most encyclopedia's about cars, they seem to split Ford.
They do that, because Ford US makes completely different products then Ford UK and maybe to a lesser extent Ford Germany.
Interestingly, they don't do that for say Fiat, Panhard and the like.
It seems though I am falling a bit for the same trap in that I don't do it as consistent as I might should've done. For example, for Ford one can argue that Belgium should be listed, as they are currently the only plant making the Mondeo. Therefore, they make a unique product. Reversely, I list Napier, Mors and Mercedes seperately from their American counterpart, eventhough that is not entirely faithfull either.
It's a difficult one.
I have one solution which doesn't alter the status quo, but maybe is a solution nonetheless. The solution could be that I list the years in production per country. Not sure yet.
Maybe the other visitors have a different opinion. Let's hear your thoughts.
